What is Certain?

Benjamin Franklin once said, “there were only two things certain in life: death and taxes.”

I would differ with him on that. I believe in this day of uncertainty that there are more than two sure things. The key to stability is to focus on what is unchangeable. This week I encourage you to focus on four things that will never change.

God’s love for you is unchanging  - “For the mountains may move, and the hills disappear, but even then, my faithful love for you will remain” (Isaiah 54:10 NLT).

God is always with you - “Since God assured us, “I’ll never let you down, never walk off and leave you,” we can boldly quote, God is there, ready to help; I’m fearless no matter what. Who or what can get to me?” (Hebrews 13:5 The Message)

God hears your prayers - “I am the one who answers your prayers and cares for you. I am like a tree that is always green; all your fruit comes from me.” (Hosea 14:8 NIV)

God made you to serve - “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45

With these four certainties, I encourage you to replace your panic with prayer, your worry with worship, and your anxiety with adoration towards God. Focus less on the circumstances that are concerning and more on the certainty of God’s unchanging truth about you.
